My Family’s Christmas Traditions / Blogmas Day 5

When I was growing up, and even now, my family always had Christmas traditions. These traditions really make Christmas special. Maybe you have some of the same traditions as we do. Or maybe your family has different traditions. Either way, Christmas traditions are something so special to a family. These are my family’s traditions.

PICKING OUT A NEW CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT

When we were younger, my sisters and I always got to pick out a Christmas ornament every year. My family also used to get a Christmas ornament when we would travel different places. To this day my parents Christmas tree has ornaments from all over the world.

DECORATING THE CHRISTMAS TREE

Ever year we all decorate the Christmas tree as a family. Usually we drink Caotina while decorating. Caotina is hot chocolate from Switzerland. My family first had it when we were in Switzerland in the early 2000’s.

GOING TO STATS WITH MY GRANDMA

Unfortunately, the STATS where my grandma used to live closed, so this tradition is no longer. I really did love this tradition. For those of you who don’t know, STATS was a huge craft/home store. At Christmas time the entire store would become a Christmas wonderland. There was a particular area of the store my precious Grandma and I would always visit. It was the Christmas village that was absolutely my favorite as a child.

DRIVING AROUND TO LOOK AT CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

I’m sure many of you have this same tradition. My family would all get into the car and drive around to look at Christmas lights!

GETTING NEW CHRISTMAS PAJAMAS

Every single year on Christmas Eve my parents gave us new Christmas pajamas! My parents still do this. Last year they got the whole family matching elf pajamas!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS CAKE

My grandma started this one. Every year she or my mom makes a birthday cake in celebration of Jesus’  birth.

Now that I am married, I know Dany and I will make our own Christmas traditions that we can share when we have our own family. Whatever your family Christmas traditions are, may you enjoy them this year.

God bless, Victoria Ferrara
