Physicians Formula / The Healthy Foundation SPF 20

You may remember a blog post, a little while ago, about new Physicians Formula products. Well, one of those new products has become a favorite of mine. I tried Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation SPF 20 and let me tell you, I have fallen in love with it.

I recently purchased this foundation and have been using it for a few days now. I really love this foundation. It costs 14.95$ on the Physicians Formula website, but you can find it for less other places. This foundation comes in 16 shades. I’m also pleased to tell you that there are shades for women with deeper skin tones. They could definitely include more shades, but it looks like they have done a pretty good job. Another thing about this foundation is all it’s claims. It is hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, paraben-free, gluten free, dermatologist approved, non-comedogenic, clinically tested, cruelty free, and vegan. It also contains SPF 20, hyaluronic acid, Physicans Formula’s exclusive brightening complex (chinese wu-zhu-yu extract), and vitamins (A, C, & E).

The packaging of this foundation is really nice, especially for an affordable makeup brand. Although, the inside of the bottle does get messy. This foundation comes with a doe foot applicator which is nice for applying it directly to your face. Personally, this doe foot applicator isn’t my favorite because it doesn’t pick up a lot of product. Also, the doe foot applicator may be causing the inside of the bottle to get messy.

According to the Physicians Formula website this foundation is “a long-wearing, buildable, and breathable foundation that provides lightweight, medium coverage with a healthy, satin finish.” I would say this foundation is light to light/medium coverage. When I apply it to my skin it doesn’t cover all my freckles or my dark circles. I like that is has lighter coverage because it’s going to be perfect for the summertime. I want my freckles to show through, at least with this foundation. I almost always apply concealer underneath my eyes. So, even though the foundation doesn’t cover up my dark circles my concealer will. This foundation gives a glowy finish. It is buildable, but it doesn’t add much more coverage. When adding more I notice that the foundation breaks up (not too much) but if you keep blending it all works out pretty good. Really, when I’ve finished blending there is only minimal breaking up of the product. This foundation is definitely for those who want light coverage. After using a concealer with good coverage and finishing the rest of my makeup, honestly my overall makeup looks medium to medium/full coverage.

The only real downsides to this foundation are the smell, the inside of the bottle getting messy, the applicator is not my favorite, and the fact that it does break up. I love this foundation anyway and will continue using it. If you’re a light coverage foundation kind of girl, then try this one out.
